There are various styles of headboard and the most old-fashioned one will be the wood shutter headboard. Old-fashioned wood shutters have a sense of artistic grace about them. The way the paint is delicately chipping away; the rustic demeanour of the style and the generous height they offer make for a truly original headboard design.

If you have children at home, a chalkboard headboard will be your first choice because kids are going to love it. It is a perfect place for your child to jot down notes, dreams or anything else without drawing around the walls.

Homeopathy is a form of alternative healing that treats disease through remedies, administered in minute doses that can produce in a healthy person, symptom similar to those of the diseased. It is based on the doctrine of “like cures like”. Meaning a substance that causes the symptoms of a disease in a healthy can cure similar symptoms in people who are ill. Also adhering to the rule of minimum dose, homeopathy is established on the principle that the lower the dose of medication, the more potent the cure. Derived from the Greek words “homoios” which means “like” and “pathos” which stands for “suffering”, homeopathy was founded in 1796 by German physician Samuel Hahnemann.

Despite being widely recognised and generally accepted by society, homeopathy has its share of critics. A common grouse is that it is merely a placebo. This, based on the fact that homeopathy remedies are prepared by repeatedly diluting the medicine until it no longer carries any of its original active ingredients. It could also be rooted on the common form of homeopathic remedies, sweet pills (a way remedies is delivered by coating the “diluted” medicine on sweet pills), which adds to the allegations. Natural from a scientific point of view, this may seem incomprehensible. In the homeopathy circle however, it is intangible. “It is because homeopathy works along the energy plane. Looking at it from the chemical aspect, like you would pharmaceutical – produced drugs, will not offer any insight,” reveals homeopathy Anita Madnani. Several years back, reports surfaced that nanotechnology held the key in providing evidence of the inner workings of homeopathy but it was challenged by the medical fraternity.

To date, there have not been any concrete findings that support the effect of homeopathy remedies on a host of diseases covering physical, emotional and mental conditions. Instead, it has been repeatedly sought by many who claim its effectiveness, including the British royal family who have been advocates of homeopathy for decades. So how does it work? “Homeopathy remedies act by stimulating the defence mechanism and healing system to self-heal.”

It commonly hears homeopathy refer to the vital force. Homeopathy believes that it is the energy or “vibrational pattern” of the remedy, instead of the chemical content that facilitates the healing process. Also referred to in some circle as “memory of water”, whereby the structure if the water or alcohol is altered by the process of dilution but retains the essence which stimulates the healing by activation what Hahnemann referred to as vital force. Also known chi or prana, it is considered energy which is inherent in the body that facilitates healing. Due to the similarities in this aspect with the energy healing modalities, it has been suggested that the remedies work through electromagnetic (as the nanotechnology research postulates). As it is the case with energy healing, it is necessitated at least a moderate measure of vital force for it to be effective. This is why late stage cancer patients may not respond to homeopathy treatment.

So, whether homeopathy is effective or not, it depends on your belief.

 

Goodness of Brown Rice

It could also help explain why fewer people die of cardiovascular disease in Japan, where most people consume at least one rice – based dish per day, than in the America, where rice is not a primary component of daily nutrition.

Furthermore, brown rice also provides a lot of nutrients such as Selenium, which reduces the risk of developing common illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and arthritis. Besides that, One cup of brown rice provides 80% of our daily manganese requirements. Manganese helps the body synthesize fats, benefits our nervous and reproductive systems.

Oatmeal and whole grain cereals have been touted as the perfect start to a day for years. Its high level fibre and complex carbohydrate content is known to satiate one’s appetite for an extended time, helps lower Low density lipoprotein (LDL) “bad” cholesterol and facilitate weight loss. Patients with Type 2 Diabetes, who given oat beta – glucan experienced only slightly increase in blood sugar levels compared to those who were given other grains.

Additionally, oat beta – glucan also slows down sugar absorption and helps to reduce sudden fluctuations in blood sugar levels after meals. The European Food Safety Authority (ESFA) concluded that the consumption of oat beta – glucan can help lessen the spike in blood glucose levels after meals. The local research lab also recognised the fact that oat beta – glucan minimises the rise in blood sugar levels, provided it is not consumed together with food. Therefore, starting off your day with oat beta – glucan may make it easier to keep blood glucose levels under control throughout the day.

Laughing is not just a simple action that we do every day. It has many benefits, whether physical, physiological or psychological.

When we laugh, it helps our bodies to strengthen our immune system.
